Nice New Hotel in Destin! A review of Residence Inn Sandestin at Grand Boulevard
Our family enjoyed 4 nights at the new Residence Inn in Sandestin. It is a lovely, upscale hotel with a large lobby with plasma tv and rooms with granite countertops & stainless appliances. Our studio room was spacious with a comfortable king bed, sofabed, club chair, desk with leather chair, and table with 2 leather bar stools.
During the weekday evenings, there is a cocktail reception, which one night included hamburgers & hot dogs. The next night, it was just cookies, along with complimentary beer & wine for the adults and lemonade for the kids. The breakfast each morning was substantial and delicious.
The only negative to this hotel is that it is not on the beach. You may take the complimentary Sandestin shuttle to the beach or drive to beach access in Sandestin or one of the public beaches (we would recommend Dune Allen Beach, about 10 minutes away.)
About a mile east is a shopping center with Publix, Moe's, Cold Stone Creamery, and Starbucks. Next door to the hotel is an Applebees restaurant. Otherwise, you can take the shuttle to the evening hotspot, the Village at Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. The Silver Sands outlet mall is about a mile to the west.
I would consider the Residence Inn to be a good value, especially compared to the Hilton Sandestin.
