Nice Marriott but no specials A review of Marriott Salt Lake City University Park

This place is not bad if you have a car to get around.

There is no nearby places to eat or shop. It is next to the University of Utah but there's not much there.

I got a Jr. Suite on this trip and it was nice because it had a mini-frige and microwave in the living-area room. During this time they were also fixing up rooms and putting up new sculptures. It was pretty bad as furniture was in the hallways and made walking through them pretty difficult. There was a nursing convention going on and seeing these lovely ladies was nice. There is a restaurant at the bottom level and a bar on the 2nd floor. The bar was $5 a beer and had plenty of tv's to watch sports and pool tables. They also offered free tobasco-flavored popcorn.

They mentioned they had free wireless but very difficult to maintain a decent signal. Wired internet access in the room cost $9.95 and local calls cost $1.

I later found out that other hotels in the area offered free internet (that worked), complimentary breakfast and happy hour. Free drinks and food will make me come back, otherwise my next trip to SLC will not be at this hotel.

Again, if you stay here be prepared to not have access to get to nowhere. Nothing close within walking distance that you can do, in cold weather the shuttle they provide can take you to the Trax-stop.

This is not my 1st stay here but unless they start offering what other chains start offering they will not get my business again in the future.
