Nice location, poor service A review of Marriott Houston Airport at George Bush Intercontinental
I stayed at this Marriott for 2 wknd nights. I chose this hotel because I do frequent Marriott and had an early morning flight to catch. This is the closest hotel to the terminals, which you can reach by an underground tram in a few minutes. The tradeoff for being so close to the airport is that there were fair amount of noise even though I stayed on the top floor. Otherwise, it's a regular Marriott. The self-parking is free. I had dinner at CK's. It was a nice meal although a bit pricey.
I gave this hotel a bad rating because I encountered bad service and very poor attitude from the hotel staff. I intended to use a Marriott Premium Pounds (100 British pounds) as part of my payment. The front desk manager claimed they had no in-house exchange rate. This by itself was not believable as this is an airport property in a major city. What truly infuriated me was that he dared to suggest that he would honor it as $100 instead of 100 pounds. That's tantamount to fraud and is not forgivable.
