Nice hotel in a not so nice neighborhood A review of Hampton Inn & Suites Boston Crosstown Center
Our family of five recently stayed at this new hotel. It was one of the few Boston area hotels that was willing to accomodate us with a rollaway bed in a room with two queen beds - and all for a very reasonable room rate. Being a new hotel, the room and hotel in general were very clean. A few minor glitches (like obtaining a password for internet service) were handled rather efficiently. The shuttle service, while free, is rather disappointing; there is one shuttle and one driver. We generally used it to leave the hotel and took cabs to return. The fare to many tourist locations was usually ten dollars or less. Downsides: the hotel is directly across the street from an emergency room and we heard ambulances all night. It is also very close to major highways and there is a lot of traffic on surrounding streets. The free breakfast is fair at best, but useful given the lack of restaurants in the immediate area. Parking was in a nearby garage and very inexpensive for Boston. If you just need a place to sleep and plan on taking taxis everywhere, this hotel is a good deal. If you want to walk out of your hotel and find quaint shops and restaurants, this is not the place for you! The surrounding area was shabby.
