Nice hotel, HOWEVER..... A review of Hyatt Regency Long Beach
We arrived in the Hyatt for 3 nights last month (28-31st). The hotel was nice, had a classy feel to it, although there weren't many people there. Spacious room, good view of the Queen Mary and the docks. The restaurant was over-priced, but the food was lovely (although they take the breakfast buffet away about an hour before breakfast ends!). We went for a drink at the bar one night and the bar man was incredibaly rude! He didn't smile, say please or thank you, looked down his nose at us and wasn't helpful. When my mother asked for ice in her drink, he gave her an ice-cold look (drum roll), scooped a lot of ice up, ungainly shoved it in her drink and threw the scooper about 2 yards into the ice bucket, but missing it and hitting some bottels. He then went away for about 10 minutes.
The surrounding area, however, is dull. Shoreline village has about 2 hours worth of entertainment, the place doesn't feel safe and the Queen Mary is absolutely boring. Don't even bother the trek to Bellmont Shore. And avoid the market - brings all the weirdos out in their droves.
