Nice hotel great for pre- or post-flight. A review of Hyatt Regency DFW

My stay at the Hyatt Regency DFW airport hotel was pleasant. Upon arrival (by car) to the massive Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, I was nervous about finding the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised that the airport had the Hyatt featured on it's road signs with clear instructions on how to get to it. It is the only hotel inside the DFW gates. You pass through a toll booth where you receive a ticket. You are supposed to pay upon exiting, however there is no charge for parking if you stay at the Hyatt. All you need to do is get the front desk to validate your ticket. If you would rather not self-park, valet parking is available for $13 per day. I took advantage of that service. The valets were very friendly. We arrived 2 days early to enjoy the surrounding attractions. I was anticipating it to be a hassle when coming and going out of the airport. My worries were unsubstantiated. You get a ticket everytime you come in and give it back to them (validated) every time you go out. The area malls, restaurants, and attractions were very close. I didn't see it as a disadvantage at all by being within the airport gates. However, if you were going to do a lot of coming and going, it might get old. The hotel itself had a few different types of food and beverage services. I never tried any of them, but did look over the room service menu and was very impressed. Reasonable prices with a good selection, available throughout the day. No late night service however.

The hotel is older, but the rooms were spacious and nice. A tiny balcony afforded views of the air traffic. Surprisingly, the noise was not bothersome. The hotel is well-insulated. The room had a TV with cable and pay per view, a comfortable bed, hair dryer, table and chairs, and a chair with ottoman. Curtains blacked out light well. Wireless internet access was available for $9.95 per 24 hour period. You could also get 3 hrs for $5.95. I took advantage of this and was pleased by the speed and ease of setup.

Shuttles run to the terminals on 20 minute intervals. Also, they will pick you up if you call them from the terminal. They charge $9 for a shuttle ride to the Grapevine Mills mall. The mall was nice. Lots of outlet stores and a Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World. Grapevine has lots of restaurants and a historic main street. It can't be more than a few miles away from the airport, though I never measured it.

I would stay at this hotel again. I've only stayed at one other Hyatt - in New Orleans. This one was not as nice as that one, but it served the purpose and I was pleased.
