Nice hotel but a bit overpriced A review of Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach

We just spent four nights at this hotel. We enjoyed our stay. Our room

was a gulf view with a balcony. We were glad we splurged on the gulf

room. However, the room smelled like mold from the minute we walked in.

I talked to the front desk. The hotel was full so checking into another

gulf room wasn't an option. Every time we entered the room we noticed

the bad smell. But, we quickly adjusted and didn't notice it as much.

It was bearable, but disappointing for $150 per night (with a

discounted rate). The hotel was quite clean otherwise. The staff were

wonderful. They went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The

breakfast bar was fantastic! It is actually three bars full. Note: No

meat and only hard boiled for eggs. But lots of other choices. We

especially loved the fresh fruit salads. We don't get fruit that good

in Kansas! The kids were glad they served Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

Really there is a lot of variety. You won't go hungry! They have trays

available if you prefer to take breakfasts to your own room. (Some

other hotels prohibit you taking any breakfast foods to your rooms.) We

all experienced our first jellyfish stings. The hotel has a vinegar

spray at the front desk that will help ease the sting. After the first

two visits to the front desk for spray, they provided me with a nice

small vinegar spray bottle to keep with us at the beach. The hotel has

no control over the jellyfish. It was just unfortunate they were there

at the same time we were. The stings were bearable though and we were

there to enjoy the beach so we continued to swim. The surf was too

rough for the kids a couple of days, but hubby and I really enjoyed

boogie boarding in it. We even got to see dolphins swimming just off

the shore one day. Awesome!! Nice pools, but we spent most time at the

beach or looking off our balcony at the beach. Beautiful white sand

that clings to everything!!! Nice for sandcastles. Lots of seashells to

find. Bring your own beach umbrella or be prepared to pay $$.

Hotel has great location on the beach. Expensive but worth it to be so near the beach with three kids. Just don't expect a fancy room for the money and you'll love the Hampton at Pensacola Beach.
