Nice hotel and very dog friendly A review of The Westin Minneapolis
We just spent 4 nights at the new Westin Minneapolis. We also brought
our small dog along for the journey while we were in town for business and family time. We were very pleased with most things at the hotel and I would go back.
The hotel lobby is wonderful, it actually is the restaurant and bar all opened up into one space. The design is very modern mixed with alot of the very old bank that used to be there. The openess of the space is fabulous and great for a drink or dining. The music is a mix
of techno and ambiant jazz and it seems to be a hot spot in the evenings for the classic drinkers to come and hang out. Fresh squeeze
juices and limes were used to make the drinks...a nice bonus. Friday and Saturday nights were packed when we walked thru. The staff was very friendly and helpful although the concierge was not up to par as most are. Everyone question asked went unaattended and unanswered.
We kind of felt they were clueless as other reviewers have said...a smile would also be nice. All other staff we encountered were terrific. Everyone treated the dog wonderful and it put us at ease because traveling with a dog can be tricky in an urban setting. They brought her up a heavenly bed, even though she slept in our heavenly bed every night and they also brought up a beautiful water and food tray for us to put her food in.
The rooms were very comfortable..The refrigerator could have been colder and they didnt restock the mini bar like a 4 or 5 star hotel would. They also had issues with getting on wireless internet. The Lightrail is right around the corner of the hotel so if you dont need
a car which we did, its a great way to get downtown in 20 minutes for
1.50. The valet guys were fantastic and were always on the ball. They
always had a smiles and our car delivered quickly. The location of the hotel is close to everything downtown and is a great addition to the hotels in the area....we will be back!
