Nice enough hotel location not so good A review of Crowne Plaza Brussels Europa
We were rather worried after reading the previous reviews like another reviewer was. Firstly I would like to point out that the hotel is situated close to the gare du nor and not the midi where the eurostar arrives. You need to get a train from platforms 7 or 8 and travel 2 stops. A helpful local freely stopped and helped us as we were looking very lost!
The hotel is a fair distance from the grand palace but a cab ride cost just 8 euros. The surrounding area does look like a building site at the moment. The hotel is grand on entry and the staff helpful enough on reception. The bar/restaurant staff were superb and the food fantastic.
The cocktails made me feel like Delboy!
The room was of a standard plain business city type but had everything you need including iron, trouser press etc. Beware of the computerised mini bar. I took some things out to get some water in but did not get charged unlike other guests.
Breaksfast was quite good although the staff were typical of any morning waiters..they do not want to know!
Finally the bars/restaurants surrounding the hotel were poor and a bit seedy so go into the main square or eat in the hotel, although not that cheap but excell.
Stayed at hotel 29-31st August 2003
