Nice enough but not amazing A review of Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner
I agree with the previous reviewer that the rooms seemed somewhat tired. We spent our wedding night here and were graciously upgraded to an executive suite (close to $400 a night at rack rate--reserved room booked at $240) and were wished well by all the staff members who saw us arrive. While the room was incredibly spacious and the bed fabulously comfy with a thick featherbed, I was surprised that such an expensive room had chipped furniture, a faded looking bedspread and just a standard issue hotel tub. In addition, looking for something I dropped on the floor I found trash from previous occupants under the bed. We booked the bed and breakfast package and I did not think much of the breakfast buffet (which employees set about dismantling as we and others in the room were still eating); most of the prepared hot entrees were room temperature and some obvious breakfast items were not available. Our package also clearly stated that we were to receive a newspaper delivered to our door but none was, though they were available all over the hotel. We were also told we couldn't get a late checkout because the hotel was full even though the website showed available rooms. On our way out, laden with luggage no one asked us if we needed help at all. These are minor quibbles but it was my impression that service and quality of product were supposed to justify Ritz-Carlton's higher prices--in this case I wouldn't say that was the case. Given the choice again I'd save my money and stay at a mid-market property.
