Nice condo resort, not-so-nice hotel A review of The Steamboat Grand
We stayed in the two queen bedroom option, and were unimpressed. The room is on par with a Holiday Inn/Ramada, i.e, not very "grand." Small to average size room, no wall hangings (OK, most hotel faux art is mediocre, but to have nothing on the walls?), no drapes (only blinds that let a lot of light in), and no dresser for storing clothes. After changing rooms to get away from outside noise at the entrance, an electric toothbrush that was left behind was found by housekeeping then, before I could retrieve it, mysteriously lost. The restaurant is a misadventure. Service is so slow you should bring a flare gun if you want to signal the waiter. A second visit and a request to speed the order because of a need to get to an impending soccer game was met with "so is everyone else" (wrong answer). The pool salvaged our stay. It's a great facility for kids who can swim. (There is no kiddy pool and the shallowest area is four feet deep.) Great for adults, too, with the two large hot tubs. Overall . . . if you book the full condo option you may enjoy your stay as much as the other reviewers. If you are just looking for a good hotel room, consider looking elsewhere.
