Nice but had some kinks A review of Hotel ZaZa Houston
We stayed here a week after its grand opening. We stayed in a Grande King room that overlooked the pool area. The room had a 42" plasma tv and everything in the room was brand new. Nobody offered to help me carry my heavy bag upstairs. There were way too many valets hanging out front. Parking was $18 for one night. We were offered a box of hot tamales candy upon arriving in our room. The hotel seems to still be working out some kinks. We order breakfast at about 9:15am and hadn't received it by 10:30am so we decided to call and check on it. The room service employee said that they couldn't find our order so she asked us for our order again and said she'd give it to the cook. Our order included items we didn't order so we had to call and ask them to correct the order which they did. Finally, we had to wait for them to come back to our room so we could sign a corrected receipt. So breakfast was definitely not the smoothest experience. The tv started losing reception on and off in the morning also. On another note, we ordered one beer and one mixed drink at the Monarch lounge and it was $18 - a little pricey in my opinion. The staff was fairly friendly and many asked if we were doing okay. The hotel feels similar to the hotels in Vegas for some reason with many young and trendy looking people. Overall it was a pretty good stay for our anniversary.
