Nice Bed, Bad Food, Everything Else Average A review of Sheraton Edison Hotel Raritan Center
I have stayed several times at the Sheraton Edison hotel, most recently on August 7, 2005. While the hotel is easy enough to get to off of the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway, you wouldn't want to stay here if you want to be near NYC or the Newark Airport. It is very convenient, though, if you have need to be close to some of the nearby distribution centers, which is my reason for being in the area. Check-in was efficient. As a Starwood Gold member I was upgraded to the Club floor, but since it was a weekend, the lounge was closed. As compensation I was offered a voucher for a free breakfast buffet. Skip the buffet unless crunchy waffles, powdered eggs and greasy bacon appeal to you. Instead, I highly recommend breakfast or lunch at Harold's New York Style Deli in the nearby Holiday Inn (but bring your appetite for the huge portions). The sweet sleeper bed was comfortable and everything seemed to be clean, but otherwise the room was thoroughly standard. Some have complained about the lack of climate control, but I was able to adjust the A/C to my liking. Overall, I rate the hotel as average--OK for a stay if you get a good rate, but don't seek it out.
