Nice and new but lacks character A review of Marriott St. Louis Airport

This is the closest hotel to the St. Louis Airport and the hotel is very nice and offers a variety of services and amenities. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated with distinctive linens and quality furnishings. The room service breakfast was delicious and the staff friendly and accommodating. My only complaint came when I realized the price of the rooms. Since we had received a gift certificate for our stay, I did not realize that rooms in this hotel go for $169 a night (as per Orbitz). Although there is nothing wrong with this hotel, I would definitely re-think staying here if I had to pay over $100 a night. For this price, I would prefer to stay somewhere that has more character -- you could be in Anywhere, USA. And for this price, you could stay at one of a number of hotels in St. Louis which are one-of-a-kind experiences in architecturally unqiue buildings (like the Hyatt Hotel in Union Station, for example). So unless transportation issues are a concern or if you need to stay close to the airport to catch a flight, I would consider staying somewhere else if this was the price I was going to pay.
