New, Clean Hotel, Great Location A review of Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown
We stayed at the Courtyard in Downtown Pittsburgh for 3 nights.
The hotel is new and very clean. It is decorated nicely... the rooms are fashionable, the bathrooms have granite countertops, everything is top notch. The beds were huge and very comfortable. The hotel is quiet at night. It is in a great location. We could walk to most of Pittsburgh's main attractions from the hotel, including PNC park and Point Park. There is a shuttle that takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go downtown, and they will pick you up when you call. They have a little market right by the front desk so you can get snacks and drinks (even beer) 24 hours. The price was right. We got it for $85 a night on Expedia when we booked with our airfare. The staff was pleasant.
As far as amenities go, it's very "bare bones." You have to bring all of your own bathroom stuff, because all they give you is a small bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap. It would have been nice to have some conditioner, some lotion, and a hair dryer. So if you book here, bring all the bathroom things you need. The rooms are a bit on the small side but are still very nice. No free breakfast, it was $10.95 for the buffet. We usually just skipped it and went out for an early lunch.
Overall, a great hotel if you are looking for a nice hotel for a value. My advice would be to pack everything you think you will need because they don't provide much. Also maybe pack a few breakfast bars to get you started in the morning so you don't have to pay for the breakfast. There are lots of nice restaurants in the area that you can stop at for an early lunch.
Pittsburgh was really nice. Make sure to go up the Duquense incline on Mt Washington at night and eat at a nice restaurant on the cliff (I recommend the Georgetown Inn). It is very romantic. Also hit a Steelers game or Pirates game (the new PNC park is great).
