New, clean, great service, hard bed A review of Lighthouse Inn
We booked our room a month in advance and spoke to Pleiades, a charming, friendly, and professional gentleman. When we checked in, we were greeted by Michael, who was all of those things, too. We stayed in room 323, a short climb up the stairs. (The elevator was broken.) The room was immaculate, had a king bed and a nice view of the shoreline. Unfortunately for us, the bed was very, very firm and so were the pillows; that made it a challenge to fall asleep.
The continental breakfast was adequate and pleasant.
We ate dinner at the restaurant next door, which Michael recommended and which is part of another motel. The food was mediocre and the service friendly but slow, probably because the place was packed for the 4th of July weekend. We were craving clam chowder and were disappointed that they don't serve it, given the other seafood dishes on the menu and that Crescent City is famous for seafood (Dungeness crabs).
Would we stay here again? Maybe. We'd definely specify a softer bed and dine elsewhere!
