New, clean, good service, suites A review of HYATT house Emeryville/San Francisco Bay Area
I flew regularly to Emeryville for work and at one time or other stayed in all of the hotels there (Holiday Inn, Marriot Courtyard, Sheraton FourPoints as well as some in Berkeley). Woodfin is by far the nicest and most convenient, and through my company, at least, I was able to get the same rate as the Holiday Inn.
The hotel is about a year old now and it sparkles compared to the others. Rooms are big and comfortable with good ammenities (except as of last spring, they still didn't have high-speed internet access).
They have a happy hour in the evening, with food. They have a great free breakfast. You can rent videos and they even have some heat-up food you can buy in the lobby. A lot of people seem to have extended stays there, and the hotel is built to accomodate that need.
The hotel is right on the Amtrak line, and is close to a foot-court mall. Ask for a room away from the tracks since the trains can be noisy (but never a real problem for me).
Emeryville is a sketchy place. While I worked at my company over several years, there were several people mugged and one seriously injured walking across the train bridge. Be careful. The Woodfin parking lot is well lit and ample.
