Never Again A review of Ramada Historic Hotel

We stayed at the Ramada Inn St. Augustine at the end of April 2004. This hotel needs some tender loving care, new carpets in the rooms and certainly new towels. However what angered us the most was charge of $1.60 for the daily use of the room safe. We neither needed or used the room safe. Upon a requested to the Manager to remove this charge from our bill we were given the incredible statement that it was a mandatory charge. We told the Manager that we were not informed of this charge at checkin. We were then told there is a notice behind the reception desk. The Manager then went on to say that guests need to be protected and insured. We carry sufficient insurance at all times and certainly do not need duplication. A call to customer service at Ramada elicited the response that there was nothing they could do and they have no responsibility for the actions of individual Managers. We will never use any Ramada hotel again.
