Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A review of Grand Timber Lodge
stayed here Jan 3-10 2004. It was a nitemare from the start! Check in was TOTAL chaos. Many people checked in before us even thro we had been waiting for hrs. !! Literally. They have a policey that you are assigned a room when you reserve your week and that is the one you get! Doesn't matter if you are there at 1 pm and there are room types like your availible and waiting . Never heard of such nonsence and we travel alot thru disney vacation club. The manager was rude and in way over her head. snapping and raising her voice to her staff. It was embarressing to witness. The one bedrooms are beautiful! The buildings are so hot you can't bear it. I mean we had to turn our heat all the way off open windows to keep comfortable and it was below zero and windy on sat., sun., and mon. When we complained, we were told to just open our windows." But what about the cost to the homeowners and energy conservation? ", I asked. I was told that it was entered into the maintence fees, and the energy wasn't his problem. So we did what everyone else in the buildings around us were doing and opened the windows. Ridcoulos. We did have a small humidifier in the room. I had to constantly boil water in the room too it was so very dry we were all getting nose bleeds. The first nite we were going to try the on site restraunt we were warned off by the neighbor to our left. Went over to check on our son in the GREAT indoor/outdoor pool and found out that the neighbor was right. The entire staff was DRUNK!!! and I mean it was very evedent. loud, obnoxious behaviour . slurred speech, it was really kinda funny. next nite it was better in there, we ordered cheese steak sandwiches... just awful! It advertises ski in ski out which I guess they can get away with because literaly I guess you could do it. If you cross country ski about 1/4 a mile, trudge uphill 2 blks, then anothe blk on a straightaway. all around the back of the very large complex that is Grand Timber lodge. The town of Breckinridge is a wonderful place with lots to see and do, wonderful transportation, great little places to eat, fun shops. But everything is expensive,to save money we cooked at home. Made it affordable for a middle class income that way.Lots of other places much beter to stay then Grand Timber Lodge. YUCK!
