Needs new management A review of Doubletree Hotel Tallahassee
Stay somewhere else at all costs. I've now stayed in three hotels over football weekends. This hotel was the most expensive and by the far (hands down) the worst one of the three, and one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The only plus to this place is the location, and maybe the lobby (isn't not bad). The rooms are dirty...exceedingly dirty. The carpet had tons of stains all over it, and not just tiny little ones, but enormous ones. The furniture looked like it hadn't been updated in about 20 years...all torn up and scratched. The bathroom was simply gross. There was mold around the sink and all over the shower/tub. The water in the shower was decent pressure, but it alternated constantly between hot and cold. The fixtures in the tub were also falling off...oh yeah, the ceiling in the bathroom was caving in. It sounds horrendous...it is. This is probably one of the seediest places I have ever stayed...it kills me that they charge $240/night for football weekends. It's worth about $30/night or should be rented by the hour. The staff is all right...a bit rude...but mostly just lazy. Nothing gets done. I went down to the exercise room to find that the only thing that worked in it was the TV. The maitenance guy was in there watching a football game and jokingly said, "I'd rather watch the game than fix these things, you know what I'm saying?" That summed it up. The management at this place is dismal. Whoever runs this hotel should be fired. I've stayed at the Courtyard and the Raddisson, which is also downtown. While no place in Tallahassee is going to be an incredible four star hotel, those other two were by far better (the Courtyard was the cleanest). The Doubletree is really, really bad. Unless your only concern is being right downtown, avoid this hotel like the plague.
