Mystic Hilton great location for families A review of Hilton Mystic
The Hilton is in a great location, across the street from the Aquarium, across the street from Starbucks, and walking distance to Old Mistick village, which has some decent restaurants. (We like to eat at Go Fish). The service is a little inconsistent (e.g., the free valet parking lacked a valet when we arrived and he didn't show up for some time after we checked in, we were initially assigned to a room that was occupied, etc.). On the plus side, the staff is very friendly, the rooms are reasonable, the rates are typically low if you book same day or a day or two in advance (watch out, though, because they do sell out in advance sometimes--especially on summer weekends), room service isn't bad, and you simply cannot beat the location. We stay here to spend part of our time at Misquamicut beach (about 20 minutes away in Rhode Island) and part of our time at Mystic Aquarium. The kids (ages 2 and 7) and adults love it. The hotel is also close to Bluff Point in Groton (a beautiful state park with biking/hiking trails through the woods and along ocean beach, tidal pools at low tide, etc.). Other good locations are the Mystic Residence Inn (Marriott), which has suites and is a short drive down the road, and the Mariott Hotel and Spa in Groton (gorgeous, but I've noticed some insufficient sound-proofing in their rooms--if you are sensitive to sound, this might not be the best choice). Have fun!
