Motel Nord Haven - 10 Minutes from Denali and worth the drive. A review of Motel Nord Haven
Just returned from Alaska. Motel Nord Haven is a friendly, family run motel at far better prices then staying "in the canyon". Rooms are HUGE by motel standards. Wireless Internet throughout was an added bonus. A lot less chaotic than the canyon area also. The ten minute drive to the park is no problem. In fact, one evening on our way back to the motel, we stopped to see a moose in a pond next to the road. Although the Motel Nord Haven offers a Continental Breakfast, don't miss going to Rose's Diner located next door. They serve great breakfasts. We walked though the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge and my initial thought was that it was a cruise ship on land. This is one of the primary locations where the all the bus tours stay. Lots and lots of senior citizens playing cards and passing time in the lobby. All walkways around the area were concrete. Not at all what I would want from my Alaska experience. I would definitely recommend the Motel Nord Haven to anyone visiting Denali.
