More Than Disappointed A review of Doubletree by Hilton Charlottesville
If you're a corporate traveler looking for plush surroundings, brass handrails and shiny marble, this place is for you. For the rest of us vacation travelers with kids looking for something easy to locate with a decent view- skip this one. Hard to locate, thank goodness for internet maps!, you have to drive through a crowded Sam's Place parking lot to get there. The view, which I was looking forward to after driving over 300 miles, consisted of the parking lot next to the main entrance. The advertised outstanding view from the overpriced inhouse restaurant also consisted of staring at a dozen large overgrown trees growing next to the hotel- no view at all. The staff did seem nice and the pools (both indoor and outdoor) were very nice. Some remodeling was going on with noise being made both first thing in the morning and very late at night- both bad times for travelers. Charlottesville is a nice town-first time there-and wished we could stay longer. However it will be at a different hotel.
