More like Famer's Besthouse A review of Farmers' Guest House
We have stayed at this B&B several times now. It is much larger than your average B&B, in that it has something like 10 rooms (including "normal" rooms and suites), as well as an unconnected 2-floor cabin. The owners, Kathy and Jess, are extremely nice people who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable (heck, Jess will even officiate your wedding). Same for staff member Charles.
The whole place is beautifully decorated and offers many conveniences. Like another review mentions, there are large dining and common areas chock full of decoration and character. A bottomless cookie jar features very tasty cookies. The fridge with pop, water, and milk (as well as the coffee and tea on the side) is invaluable. All rooms have a nice sized TV with DVD player, making the biggest problem selecting what movie you want to choose from their large collection.
Breakfast is also great. My favorite breakfast dish there thus far would be some sort of French toast marmelade dish that really must be experienced. The wine & cheese hour at 6 rounds things out nicely.
The Farmer's Guesthouse is also located on a main road just a couple blocks from downtown. This is a good thing because getting onto the sidestreets where some of the other B&B's are can be a bit confusing.
I will say that the Guesthouse was not our top choice the first time we went to Galena. It was short notice, and all the smaller B&B's were already booked solid, so we chose here. Definitely a fortunate turn of events, as we have not looked back since.
