Mixed feeling about Chicago A review of Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport Hotel

My family stayed at the Sheraton Gateway. Very nice people @ the front desk also gave us great directions to dinner and to downtown.

Room was very nice however....the bathrooms have been WAY overlooked in some time. The tile in the bathrooms looks as if it has been there since well the a really long time and has been fixed a lot.

The beds are fantastic. I can't really say anything bad about the hotel you do pay 12.00 a nite to park here. Even as a guest @ the hotel.

Now on to the bad experience. We traveled to downtown. A word of warning to anyone going to the Shed Aquarium , Field House or the Planetarium..... parking that is on the narrow road leading to the Planetarium please avoid the meter parking there. The city of Chicago at any point can decide they are going to make this a NON-PARKING ZONE , as what happen to us and about well 200+ vehicles ,as there happen to be a concert that night. So at 11:30am they decided they were going to place hoods over the parking meters where people had already been parked for 2+ hours. The very ~nice~ man placing the hoods over the meters said well you have 2 hours to move your vehicles once these are placed over the parking meter. I don't think this would help much when you have 10 hours of money in the meter and off downtown on the trolly. I was informed by the trolly driver in the area that they will tow vehicles to 1 of 3 impound lots and you have to FIND your vehicle. What a joke. I bet the city of Chicago made some major money that day. I am just happy we happen to come back to my SUV before it was placed on the back of a tow truck. EEK!!!!

So my advice pay the 13.00 and park in the lots avoid the parking meters spaces. just my 2 cents. I hope this will help someone avoid spending to park to times or getting there vehicle towed.
