Mixed Emotions A review of Jamaica Bay Inn
We really have mixed emotions about our 2 night stay. The location was great for us, we loved the view and the close walk to the beach.
However, the room was extremely hot. We were told at the desk to open our room door and the slider to the patio for 15 minutes, then put the air conditioner on. It didn't help. We did use it at midnight when the music really got cranking at the Mexican restaurant attached to the building. All we could hear was the bass of the music and the patrons laughing and singing at the tops of their lungs. It might be better to be on the first floor and at the opposite end, away from the restaurant, although there is a tented area on the other side. There was a wedding there Saturday night. It was over early, so the noise wasn't bad from there. I wish we had been there when the hot tub was great. It was green and full of sand, and there was no sign of it being repaired. It's convenient to have a place for a real breakfast right there, but the service was incredibly slow. We walked a block to Edie's Diner the second morning and saved $8 for the same breakfast. I guess there were more negatives than positives, but it was clean and the location was great.
