Misrepresented, Don't Be Fooled A review of Hotel Viking
The hotel was an utter misrepresentation in numerous ways from check-in until check-out. We arrived at the hotel to be completely disappointed. When my fiancé and I arrived at our room, which I later learned is referred to as an historic room by hotel staff, we were shocked. 'Historic' does not begin to describe a room that was no more that 9 x 9 in size with a 3 x 3 bathroom. Note we reserved a "colonial room" with a King size bed. Additionally, the hotel is under renovation and construction. There are tarps, signs, and debris in the hallways. We awoke to construction noise and workers dismantling rooms in our hallway. At no point, did the hotel member I spoke to at check-in or during the confirmation process (nor does their website anywhere) indicate that the hotel is being renovated. If I had known this, I would not have booked a room. Also, our room overlooked the hotel parking lot and hotel dumpster! Aside from the hammering, we heard alarms and car doors all morning. Finally, the hotel services and amenities are misrepresented. One of the reasons we decided to stay at the Viking was that it advertised 'a health and fitness facility that includes an indoor pool, health club and sauna.' A few pieces of exercise equipment overlooking a dated pool were not what we expected for a fitness facility. Found the hotel staff to be rude and unaccommodating. Additionally, the valet was hardly ever available to retrieve our car.
