Metropole Very Disappointing A review of Hotel Metropole Bellagio
My wife and I arrived at the Metropole in Bellagio in late September for a four night stay. We used AAA and they used Avanti to book accommodations for us for a two week anniversary trip to Italy. While our other accommodations in Rome and Venice were excellent, we found the Metropole to be shockingly poor. There were patches in the wall, un-patched holes, and an old, crimped-over pipe sticking out of the floor that someone could easily trip on during the night. We left after one night and moved to the Hotel du Lac, which is a far better hotel - a beautiful view of the lake, beautiful rooms, a roof-top terrace and very helpful staff. We learned from one village resident that the Metropole has not done anything to refurbish its rooms in the entire 25 years that this person has lived in Bellagio. Because we used AAA, our rooms were pre-paid and we were issued vouchers. We are still trying to get a refund for the three nights that we did not use.
In any event please advise your name and email address and the dates of your stay in order that we may investigate the matter further, the room you stayed in and the staff on duty at the time.
Finally, we would like to inform you that each year we carry out renovation and maintenance work to our hotel. In order to ensure there is no inconvenience to our Guests We carry out these renovations in Winter time when we CLOSE the hotel. These works are impossible to do in the Spring and Summer because luckily we are almost always fully booked.
