Mediocre suburban business hotel A review of Embassy Suites Boca Raton
The 5-star reviews and a low rate attracted us, but unfortunately this hotel did not live up to the excellent luck I've had with other Embassy Suites. The hotel is at an age when things begin to look a little worn, and it's clear expenses on updating have been put off. The atrium is drab and needs new paint. The outdoor pool had debris in it. The balcony sliding door in our room was bent and would not fully close. The bathtub was rusted in the lower corner at the floor. The toilet flushed poorly. The walls had been sloppily patched and painted over in places. The TV remote did not work properly. The mattress was old and soft. Hors d'oeuvres at the happy hour were awful; popcorn. Other hotels have free happy hours with much better food. On the plus side, the breakfast was up to the usual excellent Embassy Suite standards, and the staff was nice. The hotel is located right next to the Tri-Rail commuter train station, which will take you all the way to Miami. Summary: Adequate for a short stay and a good breakfast, if you don't expect much else.
