Major Construction Scheduled Throughout Summer! A review of Lake Arrowhead Resort And Spa, Autograph Collection
Have stayed here several times over the years, and it's always been fine (although definitely in need of updating). Reservation staff advised that hotel was undergoing renovations, but we were very surprised when we arrived. Work crews dominated the parking lot, we walked down a long dark hallway to our room with ceiling tiles ripped out, extension cords all over the floor, and several rooms being worked on. The restaurant has been temporarily relocated. I felt sorry for the few people who were trying to have lunch on Friday afternoon (6/9/06), as the sound of jack-hammers dominated everything. The front desk clerk said that construction was scheduled to be completed in September. They even had work going on during the weekend.
Although I'm sure the new rooms will be nice, it was disappointing to see such disarray when we checked in. And you're basically stuck since they require a 2-night minimum and there aren't many other places to stay in Lake Arrowhead (except mostly B&Bs).
Be sure to ask for a room that is not near the current construction zone!
Although we didn't check it out, my guess is that the pool and spa areas would be noisy right now -- I'd be bummed (and irritated instead of relaxed) if I had booked a massage!
