Luxury and comfort :) Everything thought of but snobby manager and head waiter let hotel down. A review of Hotel General

Stayed for 2 nights in a double suite with extra bed. The beds were extremely comfortable and soft with 2 huge pillows and a lovely small one. Luggage brought up to room on arrival, welcome drinks (one each, including champagne) which had been ordered were brought up to the room. Chocolate on the pillow, complementary slippers and bathrobe which was complementary for use during stay (could be purchased separately) waiting on the bed, a bottle of water on each bedside table, tea-making facilities (including teapot), satellite TV with over 700 channels, iron and ironing board, Toiletries - shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, vanity sets (cotton makeup removal pads, cotton ear buds, white hair scrunchie), sewing kit, soap (with vitamin E and D!). (Although we were given two of each rather than three, all were topped up after use.) Complementary use of umbrella for duration of stay. Complementary use of hotel laptop during stay with free wifi. Double suite came with sliding door which could partition bathroom, wardrobe and full length mirror from the bedroom. This prevented noise and was also handy for privacy changing. Classical music in bathroom via speakers which could be controlled by volume control. Breakfast was amazing. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection, very tasty. Nice buffet with wide selection- breads, cakes, fresh fruit, fruit salad, veg. salad, cereals, sausages, ham, salamis, pastries, yoghurts, cheese. Mustard sauce for sausages very spicy! Downsides - could hear couple having a good time in room next door the second night . . . for a while. Although I put that down to the guests rather than services of hotel as it could have been much louder. What loses this 5 star it's 5th star from me is the snobby, condescending attitude of (what I assume were ) the head waiter at the breakfast and head receptionist, who made us feel like we didn't belong in the hotel as young backpackers. Every other member of staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. Pity that those in the highest positions let the hotel down. . . .Overall, a wonderful stay and a perfect way to end a 2 week trip of non-stop sightseeing and travel. It was so nice to have the comfort of a nice fluffy bathrobe after a lovely hot shower (at perfect water pressure) and have tea from a teapot. Toiletries were of a good quality, could smell the scent of the shower gel from the girls as they walked past after they'd had a shower the first night.
