Luna Beach Resort - Awesome vacation A review of Luna Beach Resort
We just returned from a fantastic week at Luna Beach Resort. There were 8 in our party - 4 kids (20, 17, 16, 13) and 4 adults. We rented a 4 bedroom house which gave us plenty of space for everyone - each room was air-conditioned, had a king size bed and it's own bathroom. The house was immaculate and maid service was provided daily. They even did the breakfast dishes for us one day when we didn't get a chance to do them. There is a full kitchen along with a washer and dryer, which we used daily for our beach towels. The main area of the house is not air conditioned, but had a nice breeze when you opened the front and back doors and turned on the ceiling fans. There were 3 screened porches, one off of the upstairs bedroom, and one in both the front and back of the house. The main porch had two hammocks and 2 patio tables with chairs. The porch off of the kitchen also had a table, and served as a great spot to leave our wet gear from diving. They also deliver 5 gallon jugs of water to the house to use for drinking.
The grounds around Luna Beach are breathtaking. All the houses sit onside the hill, surrounded by lush vegetation. It is very quiet and private, with the resort situated some distance from anything else, yet just a short 10 minute walk into the town of West End. There is a nice bar and restaurant, along with a pool and large deck area. The food was very good and reasonably priced. If you are looking for a place with lots of parties, this would not be the place for you. It was very quiet and low-key, which is exactly what we were looking for.
We spent most of the week diving with the dive shop at the resort. The staff was terrific, the equipment we rented (BC's and regulators) was in excellent condition and everyone was very safety concious. The dive boat was large and covered, and many times our family was the only one on the dive trips. They do 3 dives a day, at 9. 11 and 2. My two older kids got their Advanced Certification that week and loved their instructors Tim and Andrea. The dive sites were amazing and usually only a short 5-10 minutes from the resort.
We made our reservations through the resorts' US toll free number, and Debbie was terrific at answering questions and giving information. Her dad actually owns the resort in Roatan, and she has been there numerous times, so she can give first hand information.
This trip was easily the most relaxing vacation we have taken - no TV, no phone, no computer. I can't think of a better way to spend 8 days!
