Lovely hotel - avoid room 216 A review of Grand Hotel Praha
As far as location goes, this couldn't be bettered. The reasonable cost of the hotel makes this a star find. The staff were most helpful and the rooms were clean and cosy. Our only criticism was that we were in room 216, which, whilst it doesn't overlook the square was noisy due to an air conditioning unit outside the window and the fact that the room overlooked the courtyard used by kitchen staff. Whilst this doesn't sound terrible, it was very audible at night and did disturb our sleep. Nevertheless, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel and would just suggest that you request a room with a view of the square.
Breakfast is included in the price and is well worth going (continental buffet style), similarly, the breakfast room doubles as a cafe and bar at night and is a pleasant vantage point.
As regards getting to the hotel - use the white mini buses parked outside the airport, which charge a set fare of about 480k for the 2 of you and will take you to the door of your hotel. You can also book them for your return journey. We found them to be reliable and helpful.
Had it not been for the noise, this review would have given 5 stars. Prague itself lived up to all expectations, and we were fortunate to go while the Christmas market was up and running. Highly recommended.
