Loved the Hounds Tooth Inn A review of Hounds Tooth Inn
For our weekend trip to Yosemite Natl. Park in June '05, we stayed at the Hounds Tooth Inn in Oakhurst, which is a small community about 12 miles south of the Wawona/southern entrance to Yosemite. This is a wonderful B&B, although it was so quiet, that I did not feel I was in a B&B in that sense. We stayed in the "Firelight" (king) room on the second floor in the back of the inn, and it was simply perfect. Extremely clean all around including the carpet and bathroom, and tastefully decorated. This room also has a gas fireplace, although it was too warm to use it and a small fridge which we really liked having to keep drinks cold. The view from the window is of the garden and creek behind the inn with many rose bushes in full bloom. Although located off of Hwy 41, it is down a hill away from the noise and was very quiet at night during our stay. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff as well, as they were very accommodating and quick to answer email with reservation request. The value is also very good and the location in proximity to the Park is great... just keep in mind that to get to the actual valley of Yosemite is about 45 miles from the inn.... which is fine as long as you don't mind the driving.... which we did not.
Also, Oakhurst offers good dining as well as fast food, and grocery/drug
stores. A great little gem of an inn and a place we plan to return
on our next Yosemite visit!
