Loved the experience A review of Sylvia Beach Hotel
We had visited this charming old hotel in 2004, and had a great family-style dinner there. This year we booked into the Meridel Le Sueur Room. We had never heard of this author, but the room was well-stocked with memorabilia, photos, testimonials and several of her books. So we had the opportunity to rest and read! How many hotels can offer an enriching literary experience during your stay? The room was not large, but the bed was comfortable for my wife and me, and the bathroom was quite adequate. There was a very comfortable sitting room one floor up, with an adjoining kitchen, and a wonderful view of the beach. The gift shop in the ground floor lobby is also a wonder- books, gifts and charming knick-knacks for the literate guest. We enjoyed the dinner- eight people to a table- great for getting to know other people during the 2-1/4 hour meal. The food was excellent, although rather rich, with four courses, and a terrific value at $19. We opted for the hearty breakfast too. Well, we are all ready to reserve for next year!
