Loved the Armstrong A review of Armstrong Hotel
I stayed here for my birthday -- they gave me the "Honeymoon Suite" -- it has a two-person clawfoot tub in the room (!), with a double-headed shower in the bathroom proper. The renovation/rehabilitation of the hotel was a work of love for the owners -- this hotel used to be quite run-down when it was a flop house. They have kept the original staircase and cranky Otis elevator, the rooms have the original wood floors, are painted soothing colours, and are decorated with antiques. No room service here, but downstairs on the ground floors are restaurants, a coffee place, a deli, and a sandwich place. The location is as close to Old Town as you can get. One minor point -- the Honeymoon Suite faces College Avenue -- hence it can be somewhat noisy; however, the sleigh bed was incredibly comfortable, so I had a very restful night.
