Loved it !!! A review of Pelican Bay at Lucaya
Our son was in a fishing tournament in Port Lucaya. We had to wait to see if the boat quaified for the final leg of the tournament to make our reservations. We wanted to stay at Our Lucaya but were unable to get a good rate. We chose Pelican Bay witch we thought was the best choice once we arrived. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The islands gourmet restraunt(FerryHouse) is on site...fantastic! There is a watertaxi at there dock to take you all over the island. Comp. breakfast is served on a covered barge(so nice in the morning). We would see pilots and attends having breafast in the morning. 2 min.walk to Count Bassie Square where all the shops, bars and restraunts are(that is where the fish weigh-in was at 5:00pm every night). We had the ground floor room with a view from our outside private patio of the marina. We were able to see the fishing boats going out every morning and returning for the weigh-in every night. How convenient. There were shows in the square and reggae music playing all day. At the marina you could go on the party boat cruise, snorkle, swim with the dolphin, scuba dive etc. The shops were located in Port Lucaya and in the International Bazzar. I thought Port Lucaya shops were much more clean and less tacky. The casino is in the International Bazzar.(very small...coming from Atlantic City) We rented scooters to go from our resort. It was a 10 min.ride. Staying at Pelican Bay you had full access to the beaches and pools at Our Lucaya. It was a beautiful property with swim up bars and many pools. So you have the best of both worlds across the street from each other but you are not paying the high prices. We loved it and would go back again and again....
