I stayed at the Doubletree Suites this past weekend. Upon check-in I was required to sign a "Party Policy" by the hotel. It required that I would not hold a party in my room or bring alcohol into the hotel. On Sunday afternoon I see people piling into the hotel with cases of beer and some people standing out front of the hotel talking to the bellman with a bottle of liquor sitting on top of his stand. I then realize that it's Superbowl evening. We had no problems while the gane was on, but after the game the hotel became a nightmare. Stereos began playng loud music from several floors, and people were hanging out on the balconies screaming. My husband and I figured that things would die down in an hour so we let it go. Finally about 10:30 pm we called the front desk to ask when they thought they'd break up the parties that all hotels guests were not allowed to have. They said that they'd send security up to take care of it. After a half hour, the security guard comes to our room and says he's having trouble and maybe we should change rooms. At this point, it's after 11:00 pm and we both have to get up early for meetings. Well after two rooms changes they finally put us into a room we could sleep in, around 1:00 AM. They offered us a breakfast certificate for our troubles. We turned it down and I spoke with the manager in the morning. She initially said that the security manager did not report any problems with parties and then finally said that alot of people were escorted out of the hotel in the morning. I told her that I wanted a refund for that night since we bascically got about 4 hours of sleep. She said that since we pre paid for the room that there was nothing she could do. She said that if I wanted to call Hilton who owns the hotel, that I'd be on my own trying to get a refund. That's what I did and the folks at Hilton were accomodating, but it was a pain that I kept my end of the bargain with the policy and the hotel did not. My suggestion, stay at the JW Mariott or the Westin if youre looking to stay near the Galleria.
