Let down A review of French Lick Resort
Our trip to French Lick was pretty much a let down. From the minute it came into site I knew it was no longer the hotel people had talked about years ago. The only part of the hotel that even looks like it is cleaned is the lobby and spa, everything else is pretty much gross. In fact, when we walked into our room a huge sticky peice of candy was stuck on one of the bedspreads. When the hotel staff never showed up to resolve the situation we just yanked the blanket off all together. When I opened the closet to search for a new blanket I did find an old sock!
The furniture was of no better quality than that of any other hotel so I wasn't impressed by that as another person was. They certainly weren't antiques. The pool was rundown and old as well. Wasn't impressed by the hot tub and everything else was kinda pricey (tennis, etc). It definitly sort of depressing to see what had to be and extremely impressive hotel in it's day in shambles. Everything needs a little help.
The good points were the price. Didn't feel so bad since I didn't pay a whole lot. The spa was nice. I enjoyed all the services I got EXCEPT for the Aromatherapy Bath...as one other reviewer stated, it's not so nice bathing in smelly sulpher water separated from other naked bathers by only a small double swing door. Plus the tub was really dirty too.
And the food was good. We had a package that included spa activities and dinner every night and bfast every morning. I was pleasently surprised. For once the staff was helpful and nice and they had plenty of choices on the buffet. And the best of all would be the porch, although it's crowded and people are like vultures with the rockers.
Maybe bring a lawn chair!!!
