Lakeview Inn Is The Place To Stay In Healy A review of Denali Lakeview Inn
We agree totally with previous review of Denali Lakeview Inn, and add these thoughts.
The Inn is CLEAN, MODERN, and WELL RUN (Teri is an outstanding hostess). She was available for any question and offered advice on nearby eating places, and National Park assistance. There is a washer and dryer at the Lakeview, and a generous continental breakfast is supplied. The Lakeview Inn is the NUMBER ONE place to stay in Healy.
We looked at all options, and found the Lakeview Inn far superior to others, two of which sit right on a busy trucking highway, are less modern, have fewer amenties, and not nearly as desirable a location.
The Lakeview Inn setting is on a pristine lake (Lake Otto), with abundant wildlife (several moose sightings) and peaceful quiet surroundings. It is away from the hoards of travelers, fume belching busses, and masses of people in the village near Park entrance.
There is a shuttle bus running between the nearby golf course / restaurant and the National Park village, just 10 minutes away, although having a car is the most convenient way of getting around the area.
One thing not to miss while at Denali..........
The newly opened (May 28, 2005) Visitor Center has a film in the Karsten Theatre that is FANTASTIC! The photography is outstanding, and is so well done that many were asking Park Rangers where they could purchase a copy (not yet available for sale). I recall the name as being "Heartbeats of Denali." Don't miss this attraction.
In the same center, there is a good bookstore, and a grill, serving a selection of cooked to order food at reasonable prices (for Alaska).
