L'Auberge is tops! A review of L'Auberge Del Mar
When I first arrived at L'Auberge it was 11 a.m., I had a 3 p.m. meeting, and I was tired. They gave me an early check-in (the obvious signs of strain on my face, maybe?), and at first I was not that impressed with my room (it was nice, but I'd stayed at nicer hotels), but when I laid down for a short nap I felt as though I was resting on a cloud (corny, but true). It's been months since my stay there last May and I still talk about that feeling, the mattress, the bed linens, the Moonbeam clock on the nightstand waking me with light instead of an annoying, jolting buzz. I would never had stayed here if I wasn't forced too (work-related meeting) and now that I did have that experience I'm planning to stay there on vacation next June. I was also really impressed by the service and the salmon cakes at J. Taylor's restaurant. The free glass of champagne as I peruse the menu and the after-dinner sorbet, the room service, I can go on-and-on I loved this place!
