Know what to expect A review of Inn at Otter Crest
We just returned from the Inn at Otter Crest, and were very happy there because we did our research and knew certain things about it before we arrived: That it was built several decades ago and is right next to the ocean, so has suffered some (as have all of the older houses and resorts along the coast) after years of standing up to weather and sea air. That its grounds are lovely, and another major asset is the quiet atmosphere -- it is truly a sanctuary from the heavy tourist traffic everywhere else. That it offers great views and access to wonderful tide pools (if you're willing to get up for low tide) and great walking beaches. In a nutshell: If you want luxury, if you want things to be perfect, don't go there. But if you want a true beach vacation, which involves salt air, sand and informality, you cannot beat it.
