Kiss Your Hard Earned Money Goodbye A review of The Sagamore
Having just returned with my family from our most disappointing vacation ever, I am compelled to write my first review to alert other unwary families.
The Hotel is, in this writer's opinion, simply a "rip off." As a guest here you recognize, given the published rates, that you are paying top dollar to stay at the Resort.
But you are then gouged by the Hotel with a myriad of charges. In essence, the Hotel takes your credit card "hostage" and proceeds "willy nilly" to rack up an assortment of gratuities -- including a daily "service" charge of $6 per person (including infants, but apparently not pet fish) per day. A family of four pays $24 daily. What you receive for this daily "shakedown" is anyone's guess.
Dining staff generously award themselves a mandatory 18% tip. Yet, the so-called service itself is less than mediocre across the board.
I guess since the staff receives "guaranteed" lavish gratuities, the idea of providing minimally acceptable service would be gratuitous.
The "Lodge" accommodations approximate what one might find at Motel 6, but no one bothered to "leave the light on for" us even at the daily rate topping $530 -- nothing included.
It's hard to fathom how this Hotel does "repeat" business. As the saying goes, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me."
