Just what I was expecting - nice! A review of Embassy Suites Hotel Orlando - North
Went down Valentines Day weekend - wanted the Embassy Suites Downtown Orlando, but too $$ ($200+/night); Altamonte gave us a deal - $100/night for the whole weekend. I thought the breakfast was great considering it was included -- omelettes/eggs cooked to order, pancakes, french toast, biscuits, grits, gravy, etc. Room was a little damp smelling, but it's Florida and that's what happens when you don't keep rooms airconditioned all the time. Opened the sliding doors and it was gone in a while. Omaha Steak restaurant is on the first floor - not bad, but a TON of money for what you get (NY strip and a DRY baked potato - $35.) There is a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the area - go find that instead. I am a big fan of Embassy Suites because of the breakfasts and the room sizes; this one is also in a GREAT location. There is food in all directions from the hotel, I-4 is 2 easy stoplights away, huge mall on the east side of the hotel, Disney is 20-25 minutes away ( but not in rush hour ), Sea World is 15-20 minutes, Downtown is 10-15 (again, not in rush hour). I would like to mention to anyone going to Orlando and renting a car for the first time that #1 Orlando has rush hours based on Disney opening/closing times that CAN BE comparable to the WORST urban traffic you have ever been in and #2, REMEMBER EVERYTHING YOU EVER LEARNED ABOUT DRIVING DEFENSIVELY because the WORST driving in the United States is in Florida and MOSTLY Orlando. I lived there for 4 years and every time I go back it gets worse, so just BE READY.
Have a fun trip and say hi to Mickey!
