Just plain bad A review of Graycliff Hotel
Summer 2005. We had been living in Nassau for a few months and had been told that Graycliff was the best restaurant on the island. Boy were we misinformed! Party of 5...we had to wait forever in the shabby little lounge area with our cocktails. The hostess asked us to place our orders for dinner before we even reached our table. Most of the staff were snooty and obsequious. The main courses were ordinary, the wine was stupidly expensive, everything came a la carte so we ordered some sides which were so average they were left uneaten...puddles of greyish mashed potatoes (yum!) and grilled celery, carrots and potatoes (yesterday's fusion?). The table ordered 2 desserts and a 3rd, bananas flambee (which we didn't order) arrived as well; we thought this was a gift...hahaha...it was included on the bill. We paid and left vowing never to return. We are always happy to pay top dollar for an exceptional meal, but this time we felt violated & gouged. Unfortunately, restaurants of this kind in tourist towns, continue to thrive because they cater to a new throng of prospective diners every week.
