Just Okay A review of Airotel Alexandros
Room was a little cramped and simple by U.S. standards, but clean. We were able to get this room (albeit expensive) at a time when there was a run on hotel rooms due to Eurovision semis and finals.
In general, the staff/service was good (they were friendly and helpful). When we requested a taxi via the hotel, the rates were exactly what we expected to pay. Hotel was conveniently located near bus lines which can take one all over the city.
If you are looking for atmosphere, there is no pool, and no view. We traveled several times into Syntagma for shops and dining. The hotel breakfast was comparable to other hotel breakfasts we had had in three other Greek hotels, but the eggshells in my scrambled eggs turned me off a bit, and room service (omelet, moussaka) was mediocre.
Sure, it's Greece, but the smoke filtering into our non-smoking room at night was unbearable. We guessed that the air-conditioning/ventiliation is shared by all rooms so if someone is smoking in another room, they might as well be on your couch. We had to stuff a towel at the base of our door, turn the ac off and open the windows instead.
For the money, I might try looking elsewhere.
