Just average... A review of Sheraton Edison Hotel Raritan Center
Just returned from a one night stay at the Sheraton Edison. I am a Starwood gold member and was placed on the Club Level floor; however, since it was a weekend the club itself was closed.
As other posters have noted the rooms are the remodeled Sheraton standard with Sweet Sleeper beds. The bathrooms are your average hotel bathrooms. Everything was clean and well maintained.
I found the staff to be fairly friendly and responsive. My biggest complaint is the medicore soundproofing between guest rooms. At 12:45 am we could hear the radio/TV from the room next door, I called down to the front desk to ask them to contact that room and I heard the phone ring when guest services called them! (Although we did not hear speaking voices from room to room.) Additionally, although we were almost at the end of the hallway (away from the elevators) we could hear the whirring of the motors/cables as they operated, I just found it distracting and periodically woke up becausee of the sound.
When the club level is closed they offer SPG guests coupons for their buffet breakfast: in theory it should be lovely; scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, bread, fruit, muffins, etc. But in practice it was pretty awful: powdered eggs, stale baked goods, greasy chaffing dish meats. I've been to many other Sheratons and Westins that do it much better. I feel sorry for any guests that paid for the buffet. We did not request any made to order food so I don't know if that would have been an improvement.
Overall, not a bad stay. I prefer the Sheraton Woodbridge Center hotel but, if I had to I would stay here again.
