Jan Brito A review of Hotel Jan Brito
Our large (Baroness -or middle- category) room was on the (US) 2nd floor on the street side. It could have been an unpleasant situation as the city was getting ready to make repairs, and there were several jack hammers in operation. Fortunately it was Friday, and so the workmen not only quit at 4 PM --and didn't come back until we were ready to leave-- but, because of the construction, the authorities closed the street for the entire weekend..The rooms at the Jan Brito are all individually decorated and differ significantly in size. But , all else equal, if noise bothers you, try to get a room on the garden side. The staff was quite helpful with suggestions for dinner. One - De Lottenburg - provided us with what was an absolutely outstanding meal: we splurged and got the set dinner with wines (two bottles, matched perfectly with the food, for the four of us). It was a culinary delight! And speaking of meals, breakfast at the Jan Brito was well above average --with lots of fruit, juices, cheeses and meats and an ample choice of warm dishes. The Jan Brito is not a luxury establishment, but it is a good, solid, well-run four-star hotel, and we would not hestitate to stay there again.
