It's a DUMP through and through! A review of Manhattan Broadway Hotel
This is the worst hotel I have stayed in my life, and this is after having stayed in many budget hotels throughout South East Asia, Europe and the Continental US.The room we were initially given reeked horribly of cigarette smoke, the bed cover felt slimy to the touch, the window was broken (repaired using a plastic bag and duct tape) and the one and only air-conditioning was in the bathroom. I'm not kidding! The sole elevator was smaller than an aircraft lavatory. It fits 2 (slim) persons (standing back to back) and one luggage. Period. The receptionist (after hearing our complaints about the room) admitted that she has never set foot into any of the rooms before. Go figure. But she did give us another room, which was marginally better even though the carpet still rolled back when we opened the door, and there's hardly any space to walk. The area around the hotel seemed quite unsafe at night. It is rather near to the Port Authority Bus Termimal, depending on how you see it, this can be either a good thing or bad. It can be positively scary to get back to the hotel late at night, so proceed with caution and insist that the cab driver drops you right outside the hotel. This place is a steal in terms of the price for a hotel in Manhattan, provided you can put up with all the nasties mentioned.
