It was ok! A review of Jamaica Bay Inn
We got lost on the way into LA after a hideous journey from Las Vegas (stuck in a traffic jam on I15 for 3 hours in the Mojave desert). It was getting dark and we were nervous, as we had no idea which direction to take and didn't want to stop and ask. I phoned the hotel and the desk clerk couldn't have been more helpful - he gave very good directions and we were soon back on the right road. THe hotel itself is in a nice position, with views of the marina. There is a good cafe attached to it that does meals from breakfast to evening, with tables round the pool. The staff were polite but overstretched - it took a long time to get served. The rooms with sea views must be nice - ours was a standard room with a view over the car park (called a 'city view') - but we were there so late it didn't matter anyway, as it was dark! Each room does have a balcony. We were only there for one night before flying home from LAX- which is really easy to drive to from the hotel and only 8 miles away - but we would stay there again. It is within walking distance of Venice beach, which we visited in the morning before our flight (not a good idea at night!) The room was nothing special, but it served its purpose!
